Hiking Bald Knob

October 16, 2017

This weekend was a block full of free time Saturday since the Hokies had a bye week. So I decided to take a trip out to Giles county and hike Bald Knob. The drive from Blacksburg is around a half hour 19-mile drive through a beautiful mountain with great views of the New River Valley. The hike is only around .7 miles but is at a steep angle. A perfect spot if you want a quick trip with a gorgeous view but won’t take all day. In all it takes about 15-25 minutes to reach the summit. Definitely, plan on going back as the Mountain Lake lodge is located right where the trail for Bald Knob is located and check out some of the other trails in the surrounding area.

I am looking to take advantage of the beautiful area surrounding me more as the fall comes around and winter is quickly approaching. I will be posting pictures and quick thoughts on any trips I take and feel free to reach out and suggest new spots or request spots to have us check out!
