Bye, Bye, Mama!
Does it ever get easier? I don’t think there are enough hugs and kisses to give out when I am saying goodbye to Mason, especially if it is for a few days. It doesn’t happen often but the few times it has happened it has been so hard on me. THANK GOODNESS FOR FACETIME!!
It was a super hard decision but my husband and I decided it was best to leave Mason with my parents for a few days while we went to our best friends’ wedding in Birmingham, Alabama. Daniel and I had an absolute blast with everyone. The wedding was beautiful and the weather was perfect. Daniel and all the guys enjoyed a few rounds of golf while mama and some friends got manicures and pedicures and did some shopping around town. A few friends and I also made a stop by Hoover High School, being the sports fan that I am I thought this was so cool. This high school is bigger than some colleges I have seen. It was so cool to see the football fields, I use to love watching the show Two-A-Days. A good time was had by all.
Saying good bye to Mason on Wednesday morning was the hardest thing! As a mother I felt so guilty but yet during the drive to Alabama, I kept thinking to myself how relieved I was that Mason didn’t have to sit in the car for eight hours each way. Mason had a BLAST at my parents’ house in Richmond. He loved playing with his grandma, grandpa, uncle and the pups. He got spoiled and that is perfectly fine by me. It is such a relief to know that your baby is in great hands when you have to leave them.
You would think that a weekend away from the baby would mean good quality sleep, WRONG! I think I actually slept worse than I do at home. I was constantly waking up in the middle of the night to check the baby monitor (that wasn’t there) and then waking up before 7am each morning wishing I was heading the get Mason out of his crib. We got home Saturday night and the smile on Mason’s face when we walked through the door melted my heart! He was so excited to see us and we were as equally excited to see him.
I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is here. This year has FLOWN by. This week I will be focusing on all the things I am thankful for. I started a devotional called, 7 Days of Thanksgiving. You can join me with this study here; https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/1265-7-days-of-thanksgiving. We have a lot of exciting plans for this week and I cannot wait to share with you next Monday all about Mason’s first Thanksgiving.
